This is often confused with training, and when managers talk about training it is usually in terms of practical training e.g. How to use Microsoft Office, or understanding the latest telephone selling techniques etc.

Coaching is more focused towards individual needs and personal motivation. There are many people who have ambitions but do not know how to work towards that ambition and then end up frustrated in their work. Quite often they can be helped to visualise their goals and develop positive thoughts towards achievement and by-products of this are usually loyalty and improved performance.

The psychology behind most coaching is to help individuals unlearn some of the techniques they used for many years and replacing it with new learning. A typical example of this is reading - while reading this are you sounding the words in your head? Most people do, this is because that was the way we were taught to read at school. Did you know that the average reading speed for adults is 240 words per minute? This limitation is because it is physically impossible for the human eye to move and refocus any faster than 4 times per second, so if we 'read' each word we will never exceed this speed, yet some people are able to read at speeds of 800+ words per minute. This is because they have learned new ways to read.

In general it is accepted that we only use 3% of our brain power, which is not unlike a personal computer. The processor and memory work on the current task while the hard drive stores the data. We store all of our experiences in our memory/hard drive but we cannot always recall it as quickly as we would like, but in certain circumstances we have flashbacks to a memory that we thought was long forgotten, this recall ability can be improved. Mental coaching using our qualified hypnotherapist can improve a lot of your senses, including motivation, memory, learning and many other aspects.
