How often do you stop and consider the levels of stress that your business creates? Most SME's (Small Medium Enterprises) accept stress as normal within their business model whereas bigger companies are more aware of the issues that stress can bring, sickness, poor performance, low morale, just to name a few. The bigger companies invest more resource into stress management techniques.

When a person is subjected to change or pressure (stressors) their body and mind are affected (stress) and they then have to react in order to deal with the situation, this is known as a coping strategy.

What is often overlooked is the fact that stress has two sides. Consider a funeral, the emotive elements are likely to induce stress and this stress is normally referred to as distress. If we look at the other side of the coin and consider a wedding, then this is also stressful, as anyone who arranged their wedding will tell you, but this is known as eustress. So it is important to realise that stress can affect your business even when things are looking prosperous.

While stress itself is individual to different people it is good to have an understanding of the symptoms and some of the methods of coping with stress and stress management. At Key Elements we offer one on one counselling with the assistance of proven methods such as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and hypnotherapy from our qualified hypnotherapist.
