When was the last time you reviewed the processes used by your business? Most businesses only look at processes when they become a problem or if a competitor appears to be more advanced, this is far too late.

When was the last time you carried out a staff review? Did it include some of the non-tangible, woolly, fluffy-feely bits? Most big companies survey staff regularly, perhaps twice a year, medium sized companies may ask a few probing questions if they carry out staff appraisals. Small companies have the advantage of working very closely due to the size of the business and therefore usually have a good grip on staff feelings and morale.

If you look at processes and people together then you are likely to see that poor working practices generate low morale, this highlights why you need to have these reviews regularly.

There is no point in carrying out reviews if you do not analyse the results and develop an action plan for improvement where necessary. Planning for improvement usually means that there will be an element of change within the business, this in itself is an area that needs careful managing.

Key Elements can carry out a full review of your processes, map them, have them validated by the staff involved in the processes, and highlight the main problem areas.
